So, the title really says it all, but here are some cultural tid-bits that I'm excited about right now.

FIVE THINGS:

  1. It's been announced that Felicia Day will be joining the cast of The Magicians for season three! I've only seen the first season, and I'm waiting for season two to hurry up and get on Netflix. Maybe I should just read the books?

  2. Giant Days: Volume Six trade is out! If you aren't reading this series, you are missing out. I'm not going to lie, as soon as I saw that it was out, I stopped reading everything else to read it.

  3. Our new book club pick is The Girls by Emma Cline. It's been out for a good bit, but I'm glad that I'm finally getting around to reading it.

  4. I really want to see the new Thor but I don't think a date night is in the near future for us. We'll probably have to wait till it become available to watch at home.

  5. And finally, have you read this article about Gal Gadot being basically a real life Wonder Woman? If not, you should check it out.

Real Talk: Mom-bod

Imagine, if you will, that you have a really comfy, super casual sweater that you like to wear all the time. One day, you are wearing it as you sit on the couch and you absentmindedly tuck your knees in and pull this cozy sweater over your legs and sit there binge watching Supernatural (or whatever) till it’s time to go to bed as a ball of comfort. The next time you go to put on your favorite sweater, you find that it has been stretched out and no amount of dryer time is shrinking it back into shape. Sad face.

Well, that’s what happens to your body after you have a baby…CORRECTION, that is how I describe what happened to MY body after having lazy baby. My tummy skin is just stretched out and I hate it.

I’m not a thin woman, nor have I ever been in my entire life. But I was ok with my body before the baby. Mostly. I knew those lines, those curves, that skin. Now it’s just a big flop. If I look at my stomach in the mirror too long these days, I sometimes tear up. I guess I’ve just reached that age and that time in my life where no matter how much weight I lose, my skin is never going to fit my body (without surgery).

Mr. LL still loves me and my body, and I suppose that’s a comfort. I want to love my body again though. I shouldn’t be so hard on myself though, it took me 20-some-odd years to get that comfortable with my body. I’ve only had this new one for a little over 6 months.

But right now, I hate it.

2 Ingredient Pumpkin Brownies (from Cookies & Cups) - Recipe Review

I pinned this recipe and decided to make it over the weekend. I meant to make it last week, but that’s life. I told Mr. LL all about this whole “2 ingredient brownie recipe” and he got so excited…that he made them without me.

Now, had I had a chance to look over Shelley from Cookies & Cups recipe post, I would have seen that these come out very fudgey and dense and are in need of something to make them sweeter, like icing. Instead we have very pumpkin tasting fudge. Also, I probably would have added some pumpkin pie spice to the mix as well.

Oh well, they actually taste better the next day, in my opinion, but I’m a cake-y brownie person myself so these just aren’t my favorite. I’d probably make them again though, but with icing.
