The Geeky Girl Tag

Kay over at My Open Sketchbook did this tag and I figured I'd give it a shot, too!

#1:  What is your must-have tech gadget?

Sadly my phone. I never thought I'd be one of those people, but that's just reality these days. I use it to set reminders, read news, communicate with EVERY ONE and more.

#2:  Which House do you belong to in Hogwarts?

Back in college, I was a Hufflepuff and proud of it. Within the last six months/year I retook the test and now it says I'm a Gryffindor. I suppose I've changed, but I still feel like Hufflepuff at heart.

#3: Who is your favorite Doctor?

Um...I'm not a Doctor Who fan, but If I had to pick, Tennant.

#4:  If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be?

Easy. It would definitely be Leslie Knope.

#5:  What is your gaming system of choice?

XBox for sure, but that's because it's the only one we have. I love playing games on my computer more.

#6:  If you had a super power, what would it be?

Talking to animals. I hate it when I can tell my fur babies are stressed out and I don't know what's wrong with them.

#7:  What is your favorite fantasy world?

Hmm, this is a tough one. After much thought, I feel pretty strongly that my absolute favorite is the world of Harry Potter. We finally got around to seeing Fantastic Beasts recently, and I totally identified with Kowalski.

#8:  If you could be any fictional race, what would you be?

Khajit from Skyrim. Hands down. In our (now on hiatus) D&D game, I asked for special permission to be a cat folk. I just like cat people...and not that weird 1982 movie.

#9:  Star Trek or Star Wars?

Although I watched a lot of Next Gen with my mom growing up, it just doesn't hold the same special place in my heart as Star Wars.

#10:  List your top 5 geektastic movies or TV shows.

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
  2. Supernatural
  3. Star Wars: A New Hope
  4. The Magicians

#11:  List your top 5 video games.

  1. Skyrim
  2. World of Warcraft (recently revived my account)
  3. Tomb Raider (the new versions)
  4. Ori and the Blind Forest
  5. Hearthstone

Getting Ready for Baby: Update

It's been almost a month since I moved on to Phase #4 and I haven't progressed much, to be honest. Here's a look at where I'm at:

PHASE #1: COMPLETE

  • Get organized.
  • Clean out the crib space.

PHASE #2: COMPLETE

  • Get the crib + changing table assembled.
  • Wash all the baby clothes/blankets/etc.

PHASE #3: COMPLETE

  • Buy a few more maternity pieces.
  • Buy a couple of nursing bras.
  • Baby showers (I don't have any photos – yet – from the one my friends threw us, but here are some photos from the one Mr. LL's family had for us)

PHASE #4:

  • Call pediatrician. I need to pick a different pediatrician. I tried to call the one closest to our house and they don't make you call a different number to talk to anybody.
  • Install the car seat. This is done and it almost cost us our marriage. Not really, but tensions were very high during the process.
  • Pack hospital bag. Ok, so I started to do this, but I can't figure out what's too much to bring or what will I regret not bringing so I haven't "finished" yet.
  • Create a healthier freezer menu plan. I'm changing this to Create freezer meals.
  • Get an exercise ball. This isn't going to happen. I've resigned myself to that reality.
  • Finish out "baby must haves" list. I'm going to get on this sometime this week.

I plan on doing some freezer cooking to have meals ready to go for after Lazy Baby arrives, but Mr. LL really is eating a lot healthier these days (and so am I by default), so I need to rework my plans. The meals I had planned weren't the healthiest (pastas, not a lot of veggies).

Also, now that we've finished up with the baby showers (unless my work throws me one), I'm ready to hunker down and buy what I have deemed a "must have" based on the numerous blog posts on the internet and in parenting magazines. If you are interested in the list I curated by combining as well as pairing down what I found, let me know in the comments. I'll be happy to share my checklist with you!

Goals - Staying Well Rested

I've been M.I.A. because I'm end the home stretch of pregnancy and it just leaves me so tired. Also, I have not adjusted to my new schedule, at all. I feel like I'm always running out of time. The days still hold the same amount of time, but my mind is passing through it differently. It's really weird.

My OB is out of town this week and so I'm trying my best to NOT go into labor. She said she doesn't think that'll be an issue, but knowing my luck, I would be the one to go into labor when it is least convenient.

Honestly, my goals for right now are to just make it to my doctor appointments on time and get plenty of rest. I still have two more weeks of work before I go on maternity leave and even though I have a desk job, I come home exhausted every single day.

My (amended) daily tasks are:

  • Make the bed EVERY DAY.
  • Put away the clean dishes in the morning.
  • Spend 10 minutes a day on dishes.
  • Do something laundry related every day or get Mr. LL to do it.
  • Journal/Meditate

For my (amended) weekly tasks,  I'm actually putting these on hold for right now. While I still want to wipe down the bathroom and dust every week, I'm not forcing it.
